“Taking charge of your fertility” by Toni Weschler will help you understand why your desire fluctuates based on your monthly cycle.
I have a similar story to yours and I found that I just try to communicate with my partner that I’m way more interested during some times of the month than others. Also, my libido ramped up a little more around 39 or 40yo, so you might have that coming. Hormones are interesting!

Certainly about the fact that my fading attention span prefers more extreme sexuality in order to keep my attention.

I was entirely hyposexual between ages 17-25, and now it seems like I fluctuate based on my period cycle. Are there any resources you’d recommend so I can educate myself?

To anyone similar (and everyone else) I really recommend Emily Nagoski’s book Come As You Are which teaches the science behind our sexual brains and bodies and how to work them to your advantage when you’ve turned off. Life changing.

Your own experience of ADHD can greatly differ from someone else’s without the need to call another person’s symptoms and experience “ridiculous.” ADHD symptoms differ the most between men and women, and a lot of the current diagnostic criteria is based on research on men.

The symptoms presented in this article have been experienced by many people with ADHD who participate in online support communities and myself, the author of the article.

These symptoms are also confirmed as potentially affecting folks with ADHD in the following medical articles:

https://www.healthline.com/health/adhd/adult-adhd-sex-life

https://www.autism360.com/news/adhd-and-sexuality-its-effect-and-correlation/

No one, including myself, is saying these are the ONLY sexual symptoms of ADHD, or that everyone with ADHD will have these exact same symptoms. As noted in the medical articles, the symptoms will vary per person.

It’s fine if this article doesn’t apply to your symptoms. No one is forcing you to say it does. Buts it’s very invalidating and gaslighting to claim these symptoms cannot possibly apply to ADHD simply because you’ve never experienced them.
